Jay Guan-Jie Peng is a visual artist based in Taiwan whose practice investigates images as constructed, operable, and translatable language systems. Working primarily with digital-native imagery, he develops visual structures through processes of decomposition, repetition, and modular transformation, positioning his work between order and contingency.

In his ongoing series RANDOM, Peng conceives himself as a “visual language processor,” employing randomness as a method to introduce displacement, deviation, and instability into image-making. Unit forms are continuously reorganized through iterative operations, generating structures that resist fixed definition while retaining systemic coherence. Rational frameworks coexist with intuitive decisions, allowing error and ambiguity to remain integral to the work.

Peng’s works originate as digital files and are realized through physical outputs and spatial presentations, exploring how contemporary visual language shifts across media while maintaining its conceptual integrity.
